In honor of the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation the Underground Railway Theater is presenting the play The Mountaintop. As part of their work, they  invited UMN's Boston Busing/Desegregation Project and Community Change, Inc. to do a talk-back after the play on Friday, January 11th at the Central Square Theater, 450 Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge.
The occasion aligns with the Boston Busing/Desegregation Project's goals. The Emancipation  Proclamation anniversary gives us a chance to reflect on the complexity of our nation's racial history--the same history BBDP explores on a local level. The play--The Mountaintop--reimagines the last night of Dr. King's life and challenges us to connect our own lives to that more recent history--to accept the passing of the baton.
In our talk-back with Community Change, Inc.  we will discuss race and racism and our relationship to history. We are writing to invite you to share this evening with us. The Central Square theater is offering a 10% discount to UMN. Tickets run from $15 to $45.  Please buy ticket directly from the theater by clicking on the link below. We hope to see you there.
