Location: Institute for Contemporary Art Description: What is the current face of protest in the United States? Using Catherine Opie's work as a visual reference, Harvard historian Timothy McCarthy will address this timely topic and describe how social movements continue to shape our understanding of human rights. Learn more about America's constitutional rights to assemble, as seen in Catherine Opie's work, in this provocative discussion with historian Timothy McCarthy. McCarthy is Lecturer on History and Literature and on Public Policy, and Director of the Human Rights and Social Movements Program at the Harvard Kennedy School. Also, in bio, last two lines should say: "An historian of social movements, McCarthy was educated at Harvard and Columbia, where he received his Ph.D. in History. He has published four books, including “The Radical Reader” and “Protest Nation."
