Darren McCollester talk Boston

In 2006, McCollester found himself on the outskirts of a Sudanese refugee camp in eastern Chad, dehydrated, surrounded by an elderly woman sitting in her feces, a young woman swinging a large steel pipe, and a man chained to a tree. In a moment defined by lack of food and water, he began to question the business in which he works, how he got there, and if he can ever live without it. Alternating between journal entries and short stories, McCollester's book details the life of a freelance photo-journalist, covering the day's news for an international photo agency and preparing for a self-funded trip overseas.

This talk is presented in conjunction with Robin Radin's Eliot School class in Documentary Photography

 Free and open to all.
