Description: 12:30–1:30pm Screening of "Acting Together on the World Stage"
1:30–2:00pm Post-screening conversation with Cynthia Cohen, co-creator of film and director of Acting Together project, Brandeis University; Kathleen Bitetti, artist, policy expert and chief curator at Medicine Wheel Productions; Charles Mulekwa, playwright from Uganda and a curator of Acting Together project.
2:10–3:30pm Balancing aesthetics and social transformation: Conversation, video clip from toolkit & activities exploring how artists and peacebuilders balance attention to aesthetic and socio-political imperatives.
Dr. Cynthia Cohen, director of Brandeis University's Peacebuilding and the Arts Program, will present the one-hour documentary, which chronicles the work and thoughts of performing artists, playwrights, educators and activists engaged in the transformation of conflict in places as far-flung as Serbia, Peru, Uganda, the Middle East, the United States and elsewhere. Dr. Cohen and Kathleen Bitetti will answer questions following the screening. Dr. Cohen will then facilitate a conversation and activities about balancing aesthetics and social transformation in the field of peacebuilding.
